We are seeking a Senior Engineer who is an expert in Apache Spark workloads and actively participates in Spark open-source communities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of distributed data processing, performance optimization, and a passion for contributing to open-source projects. This customer facing role will involve working directly with some of the most successful partners and customer companies to optimize Spark workloads, make improvements to open-source software, and identify bottlenecks for system and hardware optimization. It will require leadership and mentoring of junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

As a Cloud Ecosystem Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Design and develop Apache Spark and other big data software optimizations, features, and recommendations.
Collaborate with cloud engineers, data scientists, and other engineers to implement data processing solutions that feed AI workflows.
Contribute to the Apache Spark open source community by participating in discussions, submitting patches, and attending relevant conferences or meetups.
Lead performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts to ensure high availability and reliability of Spark workloads.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Apache Spark and related technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on our systems.
Run and analyze Spark benchmarks such as TPC-DS.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
Minimum skills and experience that will get you noticed:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Candidate must have 7+ years of experience in the following:
Senior Engineer position or an equivalent role, with a strong emphasis on expertise in Apache Spark.
Programming languages such as C/C++, Scala, Java (including JNI and native library), or Python.
2+ years of experience in Apache Spark open-source communities (by participating in discussions, submitting patches) or related software companies
Preferred skills and experience that will make you stand out:
Master degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong In-depth knowledge of distributed computing principles and big data technologies.
Hands on experience with native SQL acceleration libraries such as Velox or Photon
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Performance profiling proficiency.
Proven record of active participation in Apache Spark open-source communities (by participating in discussions, submitting patches) or related software companies for 2+ years.
Experience with Apache Gluten and Substrait
Design and develop Apache Spark and other big data software optimizations, features, and recommendations
Collaborate with cloud engineers, data scientists, and other engineers to implement data processing solutions that feed AI workflows
